17th portrait of 100

Inspired by the blog “100king to improve” (Trying to improve our drawing skills by doing 100 drawings of something), I started to number the drawings of my partner.

He doesn’t like it when I draw him, because he looks about 30 years older and 20 kg bigger than in reality. Well, I love to draw his wrinkles…

This one is the 17th drawing, the first one I dare to upload.

Coffee Company Amsterdam

The Coffee Company on the Plantage Muidergracht in Amsterdam. In Amsterdam there were no Starbucks (now there is one in the Central Station), but we do have the Coffee Company. There were some people around, but I didn’t draw them.

Quan Yin

Quan Yin (or Kwan Jin)

I like the two pages together, so I photographed them, because it is too big for the scanner. The left is bodhisatva Quan Yin (Guan Yin, Kwan Jin). She is a budhist, chinese goddess who traveled from India to China. In India she was male and called AvalokiteĊ›vara, in China is became female. She also has been influenced by Mary the mother of Jesus. Quan Yin is the goddess of compassion, and is generally regarded by many as the protector of women and children.
