Cycling in Amsterdam

Our bicycle is the main form of transportation in Amsterdam. This bike we call “the cycle of our daughter” because it has an extra seat for our child. I sketched ‘my’ bike while it was standing for the window of the Coffee Company while I was drinking a latte decaf (or a bambino).

  1. Very nice sketch. I love the way you are able to get around on your bicycles! The commuter train stations are surrounded by bicycle parking lots.

  2. A nice project while enjoying your latte. Haven’t, before, seen that seat for a child-neat.

  3. Wonderful sketch! Do you even ride in winter?

    • @Raena, yes also in winter. And also when it rains😦 But The Netherlands has a land climate, it gets cold but not very very cold.

  5. I like that you drew part of the bike. In photography cropping, these days, is often a way to make a picture more interesting, and so too for drawings. (Ik kon lezen dat je heel boos was).

    • @Elza, the cropping was partly because of the window.

En ja, ik was woedend en gefrustreerd op dat moment. Het gekke is, dat ook op dagen dat alles tegenzit, ik wel gewoon kan tekenen met goede resultaten.

  6. @BarbaraB, @Sandra @Cathy Thanks for the comments. The extra seat works very good, but if you are really fashionable in Amsterdam you have cargo bike with two wheels for the kids.
